The Cyclops
HOW WILL THIS MEDICAL EQUIPMENT HELP?
Epilepsy is the most prevalent neurological disorder of our time. As a results, demand for such diagnostic tools and services has never been greater!
This particular configuration is called a “Cyclops” cart, due to its single camera. It’s able to pan, tilt and zoom in on the patient as they move about their environment, providing critical MPEG-4 video capture that’s synchronized with real-time EEG waveform recordings.
It’s produced by XLTEK (a division of Natus) – the industry leader in neurodiagnostics. Their equipment is used by 7 of the top 10 EEG centres in the United States (such as the Mayo Clinic), and in most major Canadian facilities.
The Cyclops uses innovative “Bluetooth” point-to-point wireless technology that allows the patient to move about freely. This ensures a unique combination of both patient safety and data security.
The system can be used for both routine clinical EEG recordings and long-term monitoring. It captures 40 channels of EEG, as well as Sa02/pulse rate information and 4 extra DC signals resulting in a less invasive and more comfortable experience for the patient.
This invaluable tool will ensure superior performance, flexibility and reliability, and provide improved patient care and cost savings to the health system.
